Cardiac Referral Exam

Pets, just like humans, get heart disease or have heart conditions such as a heart murmur. We will recommend a cardiac referral evaluation if your dog or cat is exhibiting symptoms of cardiac disease. A cardiac exam will give us much needed information regarding your pet’s heart condition. Symptoms of cardiac issues in dogs and cats can include:

  • Coughing
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Rapid, shallow breathing
  • Abdominal distention
  • Exercise intolerance
  • Weakness or collapse
  • Grey or blue gums
  • Irregular heart beat or “whooshing” sound identified during wellness exam

If your pet has been diagnosed with a heart murmur it is important to always watch for these signs. If your pet exhibits one more of these symptoms, contact us right away.
